WINNIPEG, Manitoba (Reuters) - A Canadian teacher has been suspended after shocking a small northern Manitoba school by distributing a math exam that included questions about pimps, prostitutes, machine guns, cocaine trafficking and getting "knocked up."

The math proficiency test included questions such as: "Rufus is a pimp for three girls. If the price is $65 per trick, how many tricks per day must each girl turn to support Rufus' $800 per day crack habit?"

And then there was the trouble with Hector.

"Hector knocked up three girls in his gang. There are 27 girls in his gang. What is the exact percentage of the girls in the gang that Hector knocked up?"

Parents of the 13-year-old and 14-year old students who attend Juniper School in Thompson, Manitoba, said they were outraged.

And the province's minister of education, Drew Caldwell, said he was "disturbed."

The exam, which asked students for their name, gang name and home room, was fast becoming the talk of this nickel-mining community of 15,000 people 800 kilometers (500 miles) north of Winnipeg.

Supplied with the exact speed of travel and the number of seconds it takes to load a shot gun, another test question asked students to calculate the distance, Billie, a skateboard thief, would be able to flee before getting "whacked."

Newspaper reports said that board members at the Mystery Lake School District stripped the veteran teacher of her classroom duties at a meeting earlier this week. She was also suspended without pay for three days.

The test appeared to be modeled after an exam called "The City of Los Angeles High School Math Proficiency Exam," found on an Internet joke site.

Heh Creature, I'm enjoying the Altimas.net website except I'm afraid to log on at work due to some of the pictures! laugh

They seem to have a pretty fancy system...perhaps overkill. Does not seem to be too much autocrossing going on though. frown

'Cuz we're all pimps and hoes over on Altimas.net! laugh It is a nice system -- Mike (BigBird) does a good job with it. He's got good sponsors like Stillen and Tire Rack, and there's a lot of traffic, so he gets the money to keep up.

And yes, you may need to be careful venturing into Off Topic while at work. wink We do try to label threads with nudity as NWS - Not Work Safe.

But no, not too much autox'ing in the Altima community. Myself and 2 or 3 others is all I've seen. The car was only semi-competitive in stock form when it was in ES. Might be a little more competitive in HS now. But the Altima community is a younger sort, most of them getting their cars (used) in high school or just beyond, so they're more into show than go. Plus most of them don't even know about autoxing -- I didn't even learn about it until I was 27, and that was purely by chance. Many of them go to the strip, but it's not easy to make the Alty really fast. We do have a couple of 1st-gen Altimas doing mid-14 1/4's though, and a few with turbos on them.

BTW, I'm referring to the 1st- and 2nd-gen Altimas. Obviously the 2002's like yours are a different story, and their owners are generally a different demographic from the rest of the site.

I don't know whether the story is true or not but I heard it told with many more similar questions back in 1993. I'll look through google to try and find something.

That test is even older than I first thought, it goes back to the late 1980's! Try this link for the full "test": Los Angeles county math test

Teacher must be a real idiot to actually give the test to students!

Trig is easy GSR. Just remember, cosine is something you never do on a loan for your brother-in-law!

I noted the different demographics, Creature...and I thought I felt old here! The picture I was specifically referring to was in PTs sig!!!
