COngress is considering making a list of every manufacturer's diagnostic codes public.

The part that got me was "Manufacturers started installing computers in cars in 1996..." WTF? "Computers" have been in cars ever since the first electronic caburetors in '80. Anyone have any idea what they're talking about? Do they mean OBDII?

They must mean OBD-II.

I haven't read the story but I'm gonna take a guess and say that the journalist who wrote it probably isn't real up on technology..

I think the article was written for anyone to understand. Of course there are people who will read that and say "what the, computers have been in cars for a long time." While another person who doesn't know a spark plug from a hot rock will say, "cars have computers?"
