mad Speed mad Channel mad is only carrying 13 hours of the race mad basically omitting the nighttime hours. So instead of live Le Mans action we get a replay of leg one of the Acropolis Rally; ARCA, Motorsport Mundial, taped Totyota Atlantics and 3 hours of Consumer Product Showcase mad . What I wouldn't give to meet Libertore on the street right now.

According to the official entry list Dick Barbour didn't make the cut, they may have been on the reserve list however. FWIW the '01 GT pole sitting Calloway Corvette didn't get a entry either confused

Hopefully the Cadillacs crash and burn on the first lap so they don't embarrass themselves too badly.

Actually one just had an electrical fire during the first qualifying session! Good 'ol GM reliability.

Some Results from first qual:
1) LMP 900 Dome S101/Judd--Racing for Holland--Jan Lammers--3.31.355
2) LMP 900 Audi R8--Audi Sport NA--Johnny Herbet--3.36.291
3) LMP 900 Audi R8--Audi Sport Team Joest--Tom Kristensen--3.37.368

8) GTP Bentley EXP Speed 8--Team Bentley--Eric Van de Poele--3.40.141
11) LMP 900 Panoz LMP-01--Panoz Motorsports--David Brabham--3.42.518

22) GTS Ferrari 550 Maranello--Prodrive--Tomas Enge--4.01.087
24) GTS Corvette C5-R--Corvette Racing--Ron Fellows--4.02.758

So it seems as if the Dome/Judd might have some outright speed to compete with the Audi's but can they last. Ferrari is definitely bringing it to Corvette though!!!

Cadillac

2nd qualifying session starts at midnight track time, 3 central.

2nd session is over:
1) Audi LMP 900
2) Audi LMP 900
3) Dome LMP 900
4) Audi LMP 900
5) MG LMP 675
8) Cadillac LMP 900
10) Bentley GTP
14) Panoz LMP 900
28) Ferrari GTS
29) Corvette GTS

full results

Bentely EXP Speed 8 is pretty much the same car this year, .5 litre larger engine to 4.0, and some minor structural changes.

Mario hasn't been at Le Mans since '00 and even then it was a one-off; just too darn old.
