Worked most of the day yesterday clearing my yard after my 40 foot weeping willow decided to commit tree suicide during a 2 AM storm. Bad things happen in threes though and we got them all out of the way within 25 minutes... 1:40 AM, Bonnie spills her glass of water on the nightstand and floor, 2:00 AM I get paged for a downed T-1 toll circuit, 2:05 AM the tree comes down. The branches were just long enough to touch the house with the very tips of it's leaves. Another foot of growth would have poked out my bedroom windows! WHEW!!!

Here's the tree trunk split...

After some clean up...

And after Rick came over to help me bring down the rest...

No flannel, furry cap, Bro-zire, or suspenders. High 80's temps with humidity near 100% kept me in shorts and nothing else... "sporting" nothing but wood... a lot of wood...

Todras, if you look closely, the shade still covers the deck from the smaller tree closer to the house. This is where the most beer drinking goes on, which we all know is the most important part of being a shade tree mechanic. The more the beer flows, the more the mechanic knows... laugh

Was it that monday night storm? I was driving home from work when it hit my area. I could barely see out of the windshied, the road nearly dissapeared under water and the wind kept knocking me around! I was driving and it hit me like a wall. First no rain and then a wall of rain!

It's a good thing you quoted EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN' PICTURE because, if you hadn't, I would have no idea who you were talking to.

Yes, it was the Monday night/Tuesday morning storm. Lots of weird heavy rain, then nothing, then wind, then a little more rain, then a heavy bit again...

I was already awake because I was worried about my clogged downspouts being full of cotton wood seeds from the neighbor's summer snow machine of a tree. I had a waterfall going on from the overflow. frown Pulled a handfull of seeds out and wwwwwwhhhooooooshhhhhhhhh, the eves cleared right up. I'm ready for the next storm, so go ahead and plan those summer picnics. Now that I'm ready for it, there won't be any more big storms.

Yeah, I thought trolls knew the damn rules. :p

bnoon: That's a big tree to take down. Though it's not the way I usually deal with wood at 2am.
