Nearly 4am, and I've still got 4 more hours to go.. I only managed to sleep about 3.5 hours yesterday, so I'm running on caffeine right now! Anyone else out there working this lousy shift? Oh yeah, they turned off the air conditioning, because it's not cost effective to have it running all night, when there's like 5 people working on this floor. So it's 86 degrees in the building! It's 65 degrees outside, but the windows don't open. Go figure.

OMG can I relate. I started doing this night shift thing about 3 months ago. Honestly, it is the best shift for my work habits, but the rest sucks. Retarded people on my shift, always hot (like you said), parking is good and close, social life takes a hit, sex life well that is still good I mostly run the net and joke around with fellow employees.

Yeah, it definitely has some benefits (no supervision, lack of work, no phone calls, no traffic, shift differential pay, etc), but the flip side is the impact on my social life, my g/f, my mistress, trying to sleep during the day, etc. My days off are Tuesday and Wednesday, which aren't exactly fun nights out on the town. Plus, I have a really small group, it's me and 2 others today.. On light nights like Sunday, it's just me and someone else. So it gets quite boring, real quick. Oh well, it's a paying job, I guess.. At least that's what I keep telling myself Have a good night man.

Been doing it for almost 3 years. Midnight to 8am sometimes to noon. It does suck but you can see what I do a lot of the night. Sometimes I do wish that I had normal hours.

Yeah, the shift differential thing is the norm at hospitals and stuff, I was sort of suprised when they told me I was going to be getting it, considering I work at a 24/7 support center, but I'm not complaining. It's not much extra, but it works out to about $4000 more for the year. As for the Mistress, I was just playing.. Before it might have been an option, but given my current schedule, it's not even possible. Such is life. We don't need no stinking chat room, we've got full run of the CEG right now, no one else crazy enough to be on this time of morning

I feel for you Officer Cartman, at least you don't have a normal schedule all week then have one day where you have to be at work at 4 AM. Now that sucks

I've been working 10pm to 8-10am for 5 years. You get used to it, although I always only sleep a few hours a day (by choice) The AC thing happens at Wally World every night, and being a giant tin warehouse the temperature skyrockets, oh yeah, all our pallet jacks are broken/ worn out, and they decided to double stack water softener salt pallets, so I have to pull around 4000KG across the store... Why? Because the power jack got busted by the evening crew who decided that it couldn't hurt to drive it off the loading bay  Last night I had to work in the garden center. I was stacking concrete garden bricks. It was raining. After I finished that, I had to move all the bags of barbeque charcoal (40KGs each x 220 bags) across the lot because they were too out of the way and weren't selling well (I think no customer wants to lift a 40Kg bag of charcoal into a cart). End of pointless information... Sure your hours are nasty, but look on the bright side, in USD you make triple what I do, so I do not feel sorry for you :p
