Just did an Edmunds TMV check on the SVT Focus, and I see that it's a little under MSRP. Yet, the two dealerships I've been to, Serramonte Ford and Peninsula Ford (both Bay Area btw) have a dealer markup of $5000. Is the Edmunds TMV way off and therefore can not really be trusted???

It's probably too early for TMV to really work well. They sample all of the purchases, and frankly, with a limited production car that just came out, it's probably just not gonna be right yet. It's not gospel, just a guideline. TB

Local dealership down here in So. Cal has a 2K markup, so it's 21K and some change. Funny thing is when I purchased my SVT Contour five years ago, no mark up whatsoever!

Honestly the mark up is there but can be negotiated off the price if the dealer wants to make the sale and the cars arent moving.
I have seen the SVTF below MSRP on Ebay at dealers on East Coast as they are not moving them there. Give the car another few months and see what happens.
Did they let you test drive?

i talked my dealer down to $19,300 for a fully loaded FSVT with x-plan pricing. only thing is that the interest rates are pretty rough (at least for my g/f's credit). 10.9% for 60 months which equals around $413 a month with $1k down. i dont think i could justify paying over $400 a month for a focus as nice as the car may be.

hella, how do u negotiate w/ xplan pricing. isn't the xplan price the final price? usually its pretty low.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.
