test drove a nice black one today at the local dealership. seems to be a very nice little car. i did feel as if i was sitting way up higher than compared to my CSVT though. the clutch feels alot softer than mine but i still liked the 6 speed. i am one of the few who like the way the original focus looked, so of course i love how the SVT one looks. butt-dyno says it doesnt have the same get up and go as the CSVT but i was still impressed. i would like to take it out on the twisties and see how it performs. its tempting to just trade the ole CSVT in, but they would have to give me a heck of a deal. please dont crucify me for saying that! to me, any SVT is a good SVT, be it a Focus, Contour, Stang, Taurus or F-150. laugh

The Taurus SHO was a part of the Taurus Program, not SVT specifically. I bet SVT/SVO/SVE (whatever they were called then) had some doings in the design, but it wasn't really an SVT product.

Pondering.....Taurus with a body kit from the SVT. Hummm, could be nice.

Doesnt it seem odd that the main topic in this origanl post about the Focus SVT has been completely lost? We are all caught up in the fact that he screwed up and called the Taurus and SVT model. I say, cut the guy some slack.

98.5 Contour SVT totally stock...for now.

I test road one today. (the damn dealership wouldn't let me drive it unless I did a credit check.) Anyway the pickup seemed ok, but I wasn't really that impressed with the car. It was quicker than the normal ZX3 but didn't really seem that much different. (not worth the extra 5k anyway). I was impressed with the amount of features that it had though. Lots of goodies. but when I can pick up a nicely loaded focus or protege for 12-14k, it's a tough call.

Well, I don't understand why SVT went through the bother of putting a power height adjustment in, and then give it such a short range of travel. It is simply impossible to get the seat low enough to be confortable (not akin to sitting in a chair). However, this seems to be a trend, as the Matrix/Vibe suffer from the same problem.

Can't someone make a car where you can extend your legs? The Contour is as chairlike as I want to go.

yeh, i liked the FSVT alot. but the more i think about it, the more i realize how much better my CSVT is. two more doors, more room, more power and better looks. of course with the FSVT the aftermarket support was about 10x that of the CSVT before the FSVT was even available. so i guess there are alot of ways of looking at it. the FSVT has some nice touches that i would have enjoyed on mine. such as the door sill plates, pedals, six speed and one touch to open moonroof. but all things considered i still like my CSVT better.

The SHO, obviously. It wasn't called the "SVT Taurus," but I think from what he said that you can infer what he was referring to.
