Ok, so I work at a Wal-Mart Distibution center. NEVER WORK For wal-mart..... PRICKS...... anyway..... They went on this big hiring kick last year..... Well, then when the economy slipped.... they became over staffed..... Wal mart has NEVER had a forced layoff. And they never will...... that'd kill them..... So instead they PHUCK OVER people like me... I'm young and they know that I want to go back to school. I'm having trouble doing my job because they're making hard FOR ME. I have about 2 weeks untill they FIRE me. I've NEVER been fired before... and I can't afford to loose this job... I make 12.20 an hr..... and I have bills and what not...... IS there any law protecting me from what they're doing? I've even went to my bosses and asked for help... They just BS me and screw me anyway. Favortisim is a big problem too..... anyway, I would like to be prepared to seek legal action if the need be. ..... so any help would be great....

Are they firing you or laying you off? Employers dont need any reason to either or, but the only way to fight against this is to say that you were discriminated. But, thsi is really hard to prove, especially with a corporation such as Walmart.

Wal~mart is the most horrible employerer, I agree with you, I work at the local one, and they comment of them being all pricks-- D@mn I thought you were reading my mind, I swear they go to prick school or something cause they are the biggest dickheads.

I'd quit if you new without a doubt they are going to fire you. Tell your boss you need more time for school. That way when your next potential job checks your references they won't hear "we had to let him go for such and such reason". Even if they fire you for a BS reason that's how they will represent you to your next interviewer...

Dont Quit... Let them fire you if they are going to... Atleast you can collect unemployment to help with the bills untill you can find something else.. Sucks unemployment only pays you 60% of your salary though.. What a rip.

Although, in principal, I'm not one one for being union minded, I'd say this is the reason why unions are formed. Start a union.

The whole point of "firing" somebody is that they DON'T GET unemployement. Fired for 'cause' means no corporate handout after the fact. I say call in sick and look for another job NOW!!! Quit before they fire you.
Wal mart has a very bad employee track record.

- You can try feining a fall and go out on disability/sue them.
- Get your boss alone, but with people nearby and out of sight and start screaming, "Please don't hit me again!"
Other than that, be squeaky clean; document your work performance and attendance so that you can prove that you were not fired for just cause. Maybe you can collect unemployment then.

did they give you a reason why they're classifying it as "firing" you?
or are they really going to classify it as a lay-off?

sometimes quitting looks bad when you go to find something else, so if this is classified as a layoff due to economy or whatnot, then I think that looks much better than you being a quitter, even if this is just a "temp" job to help pay school bills.

Getting fired / laid off is part of life. If you scream discrimination when there is not, then you make it that much harder for valid cases.

Unions, get real. I live near Akron, OH. You speak unions around here you will get a big steel toe boot up your ass. They ran the Rubber companies out of here. Unions protect lazy people. If you do your job well, what is the problem then? People 20 years ago here were making almost $15-$20 an hour and they *****ed about that and constantly were striking.

60% of your salary, someone lied to you bud. That is the way it used to be, but self-employed people killed that one years ago. Now, on average, you get if you have no dependents, a max of $300 which is taxable no matter what you make, but you have to make over a certain amount just to get that. A month of unemployment does not even cover most peoples mortgage payments.
