And it works! It had a 270MB IDE drive and 24MB of RAM.
I upgraded it to a 420MB drive (I have an 850MB I might put into it) and a 500MB external SCSI drive (this is old crap I have laying around). Also upgraded the RAM to 52MB, the max it can hold.
It has an ethernet card, which works fine.
I installed System 7.5.3 with Open Transport and Netscape 4.05...in fact I'm using it to post this.
I also installed Sound Trecker to play .mod files since mp3s are out of the question with a 68LC040/33.
This was obviously a school computer at one point.. also on the pile was an Imagewriter II (I haven't seen one of those since I graduated HS in 1995).
Before I got this thing out of the trash, I didn't know much about Macs. I also didn't particularly like them either. I'm sort of taking a liking to this one, if only because it was in the trash and it WORKS PERFECTLY...and it's something to play around with. (Next I might see if I can install the Novell Netware client on it to get it to print to my Laserjet III)
After I found out the specs on this thing I was almost tempted to put it back where I got it... then I decided to see if I could at least get a web browser installed on it to maybe do something useful with it...

If you ever decide you don't want it, send it to me! Finding old, unwanted Macs is a great thing! (I haven't yet, but someday I will.)
Why would they trash that thing? It's worth at least $25 alone, and if not then they could have donated it to somebody who needs it.

Cool. I've been thru my share of Macs through the years. Mostly PowerBooks though. Great find! Especially good that you had the extra HD and RAM sitting around.
I love my Mac. (Currently a PowerBook G3/400 Pismo)

Macs suck. Sorry. Never been a fan. Have only admired one macintosh because it was sturdy like a tank but I'm selling it now. Its a Quadra 950 with a 2.1gig seagate barracuda SCSI drive(7200RPM) and a CDROM and an Asante Friendlynet adapter (so you can use ethernet). Its got 40mb RAM. The only thing I wont be sending is a monitor.
Who ever wants it would be paying shipping. I want $100(US) for it and of course the buyer would pay for its shipping. It works and is in good shape. Can send pics. I just dont have space anymore for huge old computers in my collection. The oldest thing I wish to keep is my OLD 8-bit 64K Atari computer and drives. Anyway the mac has has OS 8.0 on it.
anyone interested, email me at tlazarof@rogers.com PS. I'm in Toronto, Canada just in case you were wondering what shipping would be like.

Right where a Mac belongs! My high school used nothing but Macs. Nice computers, when they worked, which wasn't often.

Haha I rememeber those! Not bad for basic stuff like Word Processing...slow by today's standards. Let me know if you need help, I've had Macs since I was 6.
