What Kinda of Job can I get with a BA in Computer Science and 12 years of Military exp. ?

why would I take something that I have no Idea what it will get me in the civilian sector you ask?
well because I've always been interested in computers and I really don't want to be a Cop when I get out of the Army.

thanks

Do you like police work? Why not a computer security expert. Or perhaps a detective that uses both police training and skills combined with your computer training.

I think the better question to ask is what do I like to do, and can I make a living doing that.

There are a lot of jobs you can take that pay silly stupid money, but what do you give up?

However, many times it's more about who you know than what you know, and that simply takes time. There are many textbook MCSE's and such out there, but how many are experienced.

Network, meet people in the field and see if you like what you learn about their careers.

Then decide what you want to do.

Well, I finished 1st in my class with a Masters in Computer Science and it took me over 3 months to find a good job in the Technology Sector. Granted Pittsburgh is not the Tech hub of the world.

My advise for you would be to brush up on your computer skills if you want a job in IT. If you pass tests like MCSE that is a huge foot in the door for IT work.

However, if you are more interested in managerial level work, I'd focus on your responsibilites in the Military and your ability to manage resources and effectively allocate projects on time and in budget.

Hope this helps.

Doug
