I've got a 19" Samsung 900NF which works pretty good. I run it at 1280x1024 @ 75Hz on an ATI Radeon 7500. I've been thinking of possibly selling my 900NF for a Samsung 18" LCD.

Anyone have much experience with the LCD to know how well it compares overall to a decent CRT display? I have used a 15" and all I know is that my CRT looks blurry compared to it BUT my colors look nicer and my whites seem more white as opposed to some kind of eggshell color.

Should I just stick with my 900NF or grab an LCD? I would be runnng the LCD in its native resolution which is the same as what I run now.

I've been running a NEC MultiSync LCD 1830 (18,1 in) for almost 8 months now, and I'm glad I swapped out the old CRT. Less strain on the eyes in the long run.

Also, if you run WinXP, it has a neat feature, ClearType or something like that, that makes the often jagged appearance of text etc more CRT-like and better to read. It looks terrible at first, but you don't want to switch once you get used to it.

If you do any gaming with high frame per second, skip the LCD. I love my flat screen 19" (LG 915+) and run it at 1600x1200 @ 85Hz. Cleartype works regardless of the type of screen. I have it turned on.

I do use XP and have cleartype enabled. I used to play lots of games before but I've been mellowing out. I might jump into an online game maybe about once every 2 months now. Primarily research, email and some work in photoshop and dreamweaver.

God...now that I think of it, what a waste of a fast machine! Got a Tbird XP 1600 with 512mb DDR and all SCSI UW 10K drives (3 drives). Heck CDROM and CDRW are SCSI as well. Oh well the system will last me a while for what I used it for now.

Maybe I will give the LCD a try. I have never considerred the NEC. I should look into that too.

I don't know if it holds true anymore but samsung used to make the internals on a lot of the LCD's. NEC's are pretty good, sony's are real nice but are just about the most expesnive. My next upgrade will be to the 24" Flat CRT, I have a 19" now and I can't see spending the money on a LCD

Clear Type makes my head hurt on my desktop's 21" flat screen CRT.. Works wonders on my 15.1" laptop screen though..
