I was talking to my brother about this thread because a friend of his owns an old farm house. Here are some of his friends occurances.

While playing pool in one of the rooms, a door to the basement opened in front of everybody. A few minutes later, it closed again. It was latched, so a draft couldn't have caused it.

While watching a movie, they heard something in the kitchen and found a frying pan on the floor. It was placed back on the back burner of a stove. As soon as they left the room, it fell on the floor again.

My brother has heard talking coming from the basement. One day while helping his friend wire his home theater system, his friend found bones (what looked to be a femur) in the crawl space under the room.

i have one other personal experience and a story.

1) one night while staying at my grandmother's house, i was typing up a very important document for work. on the same night we had a huge rain storm (this was probably 2 summers ago), and most of massachusetts lost power. well, we also lost power in the house, exept at my computer ( it's not a laptop, and i wasn't running reserve power or anything). all the lights went out, the fridge stopped, even the street lights died, and the only thing i could hear was the faint hum of my iMac. the power strip light was also off, if IIRC. i freaked out after about 5 minutes, saved my files, shut down the computer, and left the house. i still have no explanation as to how this could have happened.

2) this story has to do with an age-old college legend from Gettysburg, where my sister-in-law goes to school. for those who don't know, Gettysburg is famous for its ghost stories. they have tours through the campus and the town about all of the miraid stories through the years. this one is called "blue boy" and it freaks me out everytime i hear it.

one of the dorms on campus which usually houses freshmen, used to be a hospital during the civil war. during one of the coldest nights of the year, the hospital was packed with people with varying illnesses. this one family arrived at the hospital with some flu-like symptoms except their 8 yr old son. the parents spent the night at the hospital and died from the illness. the boy was scared and crawled onto a ledge through an open window to cry and be alone. he eventually fell asleep on the ledge. an unknowing nurse came into the room, closed the window and locked it, and left the room for the mortician to take the bodies of the parents away. the boy woke up in the frigid cold and saw that the window was closed. being too high up to jump to the ground, he banged on the window and yelled for help. since it was late and a violent winter storm had just begun, no one heard his screams for help. eventually, the doctor returned to the room and asked the nurse where the boy had gone, and she had no idea. they looked at the window and could see his hand prints on the glass. when they opened it and looked on the ledge, the boy was gone. they searched the hospital and the grounds and never found him.

to this day, there are several sightings a year at that dorm of hand prints on windows, and the figure of a blue boy sitting outside on the ledges while they are studying or sleeping.

My parent's house is definitely haunted. I have some EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) that I collected from their house...when NO ONE was home. I left one tape recorder going in my bedroom at the time, one in my parent's bedroom and one in the living room when they were on vacation. I stayed away from the house for the whole day and let the tapes record until they ran out. I checked them out and got three good voices on the one in my old bedroom which I made into .wav format (made me sleep MUCH better when I lived at home ). I've also witnessed an apparition coming towards me when I woke up one night; it was a woman with a really hollow looking face, dressed in tattered black clothing. She didn't walk, but floated towards me and disappeared when I yelled. I also used to hear footsteps going up the stairs, the sink on or the toilet flushing when no one was in the bathroom, and saw lightbulbs flashing on and off in the basement.

I've had other run-ins with the paranormal; if you want to hear them let me know, otherwise I don't want to clog up the post too much

By the way, the story about the "Blue Boy" was wrong (At least it's not the one I heard )

Apparently, this boy crawled onto the ledge of a dorm full of freshman girls, in a campus where only girls were allowed. They let him in and hid him, since it was snowing and cold outside. The headmaster came and knocked on their door, so they hid him out on the ledge. The Headmaster was a real b**ch and stayed in their room for about half an hour because she apparently suspected something. When she couldn't pin anything on them, she left. The girls immediately went to open the window to let the boy in...but he was gone! No sign of him on the ground and no sign of any footprints either, he disappeared with no trace. To this day, people in that campus sometimes see a blue face at their window when they open their curtains/blinds.

Hope you didn't think I was saying you were wrong, just your version of the story was way different from the one I heard in Gettysburg

Cool postings. Here's one from about 6 months ago: Friends of ours bought an old farm house in Davisburg, MI to fix-up while they lived in it. Anyways, their mom came over from Farmington Hills for dinner one night, and at the table, both of her pierced ear rings (with the clamps that hold the posts) fell onto the table, one after the other, about 5 minutes apart. She put them back on, and they didn't think too much about it until she was getting ready to leave, and both ear rings *flew* down the front hallway at the same time. They did some research and discovered that the house is known to have a "playful" ghost. It's done several other pranks since then, and now they're moving out. Can't blame them!

no worries. both versions have "holes" in their plots, but there must be SOMETHING there for the story to have last so long.

another one form gettysburg involves my sister-in-law's roommate. this was in a different dorm, but her printer would print out hearts and "i love you"s even when the computer was off. they'd leave the room and come back and have a print out with just a black heart in the top left of the page. and this was just last year!

I once lived in a townhouse in Elkins WV with some strange happenings. I woke up several mornings to find cabinet doors open that were shut the night before, and the front door flew open after I thought I locked it a couple times. Kinda freaked me out, I broke the lease and got the hell out.
