I would like to increase the resistance of the accelerator peadal (increase the force required on depressing the gas pedal). I feel that this is too light and during heel & toe, it is hard to feel when I am actually "blipping" the throttle.

Has anyone else done this? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Henry

To do this you would have to remove the TB from the intake manifold, unscrew the butterly and slide the plate out, remove the TPS and then give the whole thing one more turn in the tightening direction (clockwise), then reassemble.

I felt the same way, so I got a 35 cent return spring from Home Depot. Drilled a small hole in the cable bracket and the throttle linkage to attach it. Home Depot carries several sizes of these general use springs, so you could add another one, or just change to a stiffer spring. HTH.

I did mine like Aussie said.

I rotated the shafts another turn when I had them apart.

A simple thing you can do is get under the dash with the car off and see how much play the accelerator pedal has before it actually starts to feel firm. Insert a rubber washer or 2 behind the pedal on the cable and you'll take the slack off. Maybe something to try before the other suggestions??

Can you elaborate further Aussie? I'll be taking the upper off in a month or 2 and if this'll help tip-in response I'll do it. Where is the TPS? Also, what am I giving 1 more turn to? Thx

TPS is the Throttle Position Sensor, it's on the opposite side of the TB to the throttle cam. And you are giving an extra turn to the throttle cam in the tightening direction.

We are meaning the throttle plate closes faster when you let off the pedal. Therefore adding or adjusting the return spring is the only way to alter it.

Although I have never had a problem with slack in the throttle cable with the stock TB. (65mm needs those rubber washers though)
That is a good idea for taking up cable slack since the brackets are not adjustable.
