You might want to disconnect it and see what happens. I would be very interested to learn how you get the engine to run though, since it controls the fuel injection, ignition, smog devices, and transmission shifting. It would take a lot to overcome all of this. Feel free to try it for yourself though.

the powertrain control modual or PCM is the brain of the car, it will not run without it, that is why just about everyone has put a chip in to return the computer to get better preformance

And as a general rule of thumb, things are there for a use and there is seldom hidden power to be had from removing them Welcome to the boards BTW!

Welcome to the boards BTW!What about air intake resonators, intake plenums, air boxes, or mufflers? Removing those items seem to make power

Removing those items seem to make power Intake resonator - yes (though I never had one - Isn't it Zetec only?) plenum - umm... we don't have one and if we did it would be necessary to get the air to the engine. air boxes - a proper one is great to stop heatsoak mufflers - needed unless you are a ricer wann-a-be 1/3 for 4

1/3 for 4 Intake resonators- Yes, zetecs and SE's have them. There are other kinds of contours besides SVTs Demon and since it wasn't stated- it could be applicable. Plenum- Funny- I had to take mine off to put my CTA in and I certainly don't have an issue of getting air into my engine. Mufflers- isn't a resonator a type of muffler? If so, we have a lot of "ricers" running this setup on their cars. Airbox- great for controlling heatsoak and resiticting airflow.

looks like we have some comedians here. it just seems to me that on the zetec engine, everything is choking off the air flow and i thought that might be too.

No offense, but if you think that a peice of electrical equiptment is restricting air flow, you got issues. Nobody was being a comedian, Demon and Redhawk are dead serious. Please list everything on a Zetec engine that is choking off air flow.....
