Can you describe your problems with your motor about how it went down hill? What started first, how long did it last, what did it move onto? Im praying and crossing my fingers im not heading down the same road but acording to some other posts im starting to get scared.

well it started out as a barely noticible ticking - (I dont remember if I heard it loud or not one day- I remember that once on start up there was a loud tick- but I dont remember if that was related at all-) and it progressed to get louder untill it sounded like a valve or a lifter was bad- it only happened initially when the car was about 3000RPM - then when it wen to the tick it started out @3000RPM but the longer the car went without fixing the broader the RPM range for sound was. It went pritty much like a ticking - sounded for the life of me like a collapsed lifter- even manifested up high in the engine compartment- but was in all actuality a bearing- wel it was ticking loudly from about 2000-redline the day she died- but I was trying to limp home when it happened- all of a sudden tick turned to SMACK- and I about started to cry-
I finished the block I was driving on pulled into my APT and killed the motor-

The techs at the Ford dealer here in Provo/Orem thought it was valve train- because I said to check that because all of the signes that it had been manifesting- but in all reality they didnt have a clue as to what was wrong. neither did the techs at all the other places I went to (I went to 4 different shops)

easiest way to check- change your oil and look for shavings- I gotta go to work - ill answer any other questions you have later k?

Well Jose said that the ticking sound in his lady's car was caused by the oil pump dying. I wonder if that is what happened on your car Scot.

Hmm, how long was the tick around for? I have had the tick since about last summer, but it more of a click then a tick. I always brushed it off as a belt or something, but upon further inspection I found it sounds like its comming from the middle of the rear head. Currently I can only hear it at idle. Also my secondaries are currently only opening ocasionally. At first I thought it was from the heat, but now im certain it is mechanical. Im not even 100% its the secondaries but that burst of energy at 3500 is gone most of the time. Im scared that if its not the secondaries I got a bigger problem. I want to take it to Ford since my warranty is almost up but I know im not going to get them to replace anything unless I can get them to tear it apart and look at the bearings, im trying to figure out how to get them to do this. I know if its waranty work its like free money for them so I gotta convince them its worth it somehow.

If you want - bring in all the stuff you can find online about the tick- or I will call them

I am sure you want to get this resolved under warrenty - TRUST ME! for example the heads for the 2.5 SVT right now are about $2100 for the both- JUST THE HEADS!
so If I where you I would take it in to them and if you want ill call em if they ***** about the noise- and how they dont know what it is- if they still dont do crap - then you can sue them- but I know you dont want that hassle- so take i in to them - if they tell you to stick it in your bung hole then ill call em and chew them a hole and then they should look at it for you!

PS I can get a bit of attn when I want to by placeing a few choice names in the conversation and of my "vast" technical knowledge - I can make most service writers ask me to hold on a sec so that they can understand what it is that im talking about- laugh laugh laugh

not to mention those few choice individuals whom I know that carry a bit of weight in things Ford (and Mechanical for that matter- and saying I work for Kirkhams helps a lot too).
