I am once again extremely pissed at my car. I just got wonderful repair quote from B.S&B in the total of $1,384.42 to replace the AC compressor, accumulator and some O-rings. This is on top of the quote I received a few weeks ago from Firestone for my malfunctioning ABS computer; $600 and change. To have a completely functioning car again it will cost me approx. $2,000. I am starting to think that it's not really worth it for this car because two more months down the road who knows what will happen. I am actually surprised my engine hasn't gone yet. My car is a 98 with 112k on it and I have spent approx. $4,000 on repairs already ($1,500 in past four months), this should not be, it's only 3 years old for F^*% sakes. My car is obviously a lemon. In the next little while I will be contemplating the sale of it.

I know how you feel man, remember the waterpump ordeal- I was ready to sell it after that. You know that you love your car and you don't want to get rid of it, even though sometimes you would like to. I go through this every time I have a repair on my car (oh yeah, today dropped $300 on exaust repairs- whole new catback as it was rusted right out.).
Hold in there champ!

I am looking for SVT E0's or E1's, SVT Upper & Lower Intake, SVT Throttle Body, and SVT Exhaust. If you are selling, e-mail me!

You just got your cat-back done. Bring it back! I've got mine in excellent shape sitting on my balcony not doing anything except collecting bird crap. I could have sold it to you complete for say about $40 (if it fit your gas tank design). I tried selling it awhile ago, but I found that no one is really interested in a stock cat-back. Sorry I hadn't mentioned this before. Hope your not mad.

I got a quote today on a used AC compressor out of a 98 Contour with 60,000kms on it. With my return it will cost me $175 for the whole assembly. This will save me approx $550. I have decided I am going to have it installed on Friday with a new accumulator and O-rings. Total bill will still run me about 800 bones. Still not happy, but at least it will be fixed just in case I decide to keep the Mistake.

Thank your lucky star that the car's AC is not using the old Freon. That would cost you the same again just for the recharge. Hey all cars are lemons. They suck money and never repay you. The worst I had was a 71 Mazda R100 (rotary). Put a pinhole in the aluminum rad and the engine would warp plates immediately. Never started on a Sunday, used plugs up in 2000 miles (YES). Put in 3 engines. Great when it ran. Smooth all the way up to its' 7000 redline (no valves). Sucked gas like a 500 CID V8 (20 IMPG) It was 900 CC tops.
Best car was a 74 BMW2002tii. Still have and in a body rebuild. 140HP plus from 2 litre SOHC engine. Mechanical pump FI at 500PSI+. Now that is atomization of fuel.
98 2.5 Contour is great but so much to go wrong on it.Lousy headlights. Better lights on the BMW with 7" round H4 Halogens and great cutoff and light control. Wish the Morettes would work here on Tours.

Just got the rear springs replaced. (I have the old ones in a box too. Both left and right in 3 pieces each.) Also had the left front ball joint and the right front wheel bearing replaced. $700.

The car rides so sweet now. Steering is tight and precise, handling is amazing, and I thought it was pretty good even with the broken springs.

Too bad I have to sell it...
