Has any one had their springs replaced yet, due to coils breaking off?

I've had the front ones done, and yesterday I found a 4 inch piece of spring on the driveway. Looks like the rear left this time.

I'm still waiting on a Ford refund on the front springs. Anyone know if they are supposed to cover the rears as well?

I broke a rear... I have extended warrenty so it was covered... I didn't know the put a "snow belt" warrenty on the front springs?

I don't think it was ford's fault that the rear broke... I drive hard (broke 2 in the old tempo, both rear), and have had alot of weight in the back

Actually there is a problem with the Ford springs used on the Contours. (And many Ford products) Especially the 1995's. They are overly prone to corrosion, and as a result of a few years and some road salt they tend to break off quite frequently. When I had the front ones replaced, the shop that did it for me told me they have replaced more broken springs on Fords, than any other cars they've repaired. Apparently the springs are of very cheap quality.

Here is an article about corroding springs and Contours.

I'll be lowering my car this spring/summer and if my old springs from my 98' Mystique fit your car, your welcome to have them for a low low discounted price. I haven't had any problems with them yet.

They called me today. After 7 weeks. Told me spring replacement is for 4 cylinders only. Really have to wonder about these Ford guys. They should have known it was only for 4 cylinders right in the beginning, if that truly is the case.

Let me know when the time comes. I'd be interested. I'll double check to see if the 98 Mystique springs are compatible with the 95 SE's.
