Originally posted by svt's.only: the guy at the autopart store told me I could use engine enamel, its the stuff you paint a block with, I couldn't find any caliper paint, I know it will withstand the heat I'm just not sure about the abuse, but I think I'm gonna use it. in that pic above of my car that's what that stuff is. High temp engine enamel. "Ford Red" to be exact and it is only the 500 degree stuff.

I used legend 5 brake caliper lacquer. I know someone who used spray engine enamel and IMO it doesn't look as good as lacquer. The finish just doesn't look as thick or rich. Here's a pic (the rear f'ed a little because of the panorama). The kit costs ~$25 and is enough for all four calipers. Either way, prep is the most important. The more time you spend the better it will look in the end.

I used foliatec 2 part caliper paint and I have to agree you can get a nice glossy look with this. Plus its virtually indestructible once it cures. Could be a problem though if you get a little on the bleeders like i did...
IMHO brush application is a pain compared to spray though. I figure you can get close to the same effect with a can of Ford blue engine enamel, a steady hand and lots of tape. Just don't get any brake fluid on it after, I"m not sure how well it will resist...

I went with Blue, goes with the whole "theme" of my car. I used a regular single stage paint from an auto paint store. I got a pint for about $30. That pint will last me longer than I own the car, so the minor chipping I am experiencing doesn't bother me too much. I'll just put it on my Spring Cleaning list to repaint them. I went this way cuz I wanted a custome mixed color with a hint of metallic flake. Metallic flake doens't show up too well, but I love the color. This is the best pic I have right now:

Hey - I wanna do this too, but can't decide what color. Blue looks pretty good. Anyone have a pic of a Silver SVT w/red calipers?
