Does anybody have any advice on how to install sub-frame connectors on a 98 SVT Contour? I have access to a lift, but it lifts the car by the frame. Are there any other lift points under the car? Any tips or problems you have run into would help. Thanks

I've heard it might be better to install those with the weight of the car supported by the suspension... This means you need a something like an alignment lift with ramps...

Did you purchase the connectors from SHOShop? I'm considering this one myself...

I had mine welded on the car while the car was on a frame lift. Now before you all scream bloody murder I did not have choice. It was my friends shop and I got the work done for free. I can't tell you if how I got them weld on made a difference because I have not driven a another car with sub-frame connectors. That being said the one thing I would recommend is to paint them before you get them weld on. The sub frame connecters are bare steel and will rust.

There is an added bonus! Now I jack my car on the subframe connector mounts which mean that I don't have to remove the side skirt jack point covers anymore.

I got the sub-frames from SPMotorsports, but they got them from SHO. So its the same thing. I'll post another message when I get them installed as to whether they are worth it or not.

I saw Jose97's car the other night and he has the SHOShop subframe connectors in there. Do paint them, cause they will rust otherwise! He said they made a big difference, but don't forget they are heavy!

I have them on my car and you need to have them welded on with the car in a RAMP type lift.
The reason?
If you weld them on while your car is liftes by jack points, you going tobe welding you car's body to that felx position!!!!!! Making alightments almost impossible!
Lucky for me, I right within an hour drive to the Sho-Shop and had them installed.
My advice.... try finding a shop that has an alightment machine, (thats the ramp jack you need) so you can have you car's weight supported by the wheels, NOT by the frame.

But with all said I can really tell the diffrence in it. Love the turns even more now laugh

Like Chow said, DO NOT weld them on any other way other than on a drive-on ramp type lift!
You will not obtain the full potential of the connectors and possibly throw alignment out of whack.
