Well, I can't really say. All I can guess is that there might be a difference between your OBD-I PCM, and my OBD-II. Some have said that there is a resistor on the back of the cluster than can be changed to "recalibrate" the tach. But noone has specified which (if any) resistor it is, and to what Ohm value it needs to be changed to.
