I am going to be getting the cta intake in a week. Been looking at the pics and all. Is it possible to put a K&N filter on it? Giving it a little more horse power? Also is there any one out there who has the same car as me that i could private msg a few questions too, so i dont make my self look like a complete idiot in front of every one?

The S&B powerstack filter we use on the Zetec kit has proven in the past to gain more HP over a similar sized K&N. In previous tests on a V6 5 speed Cougar, its baseline hp was 136hp at the wheels with the stock air box with paper filter. We then added a filter adapter and installed a 7 inch K&N, which then produced 138hp at the wheels. We did a thrid test, using the same S&B powerstack filter in our Zetec kits, and came out with 141hp at the wheels. Granted, this was a Duratec, but the main thing is the gains. The S&B proved to be better than the K&N during this test and that is one of the reasons we stayed with S&B filters.

Thank you for the reply cawong11. I am not that well informed on car modifications, so i hope you guys can put up with some of my questions that may seem very obvious to you.

The two filters are constructed pretty similarly, aren't they? I wonder whether the difference you measured is actually significant or just an artefact of randomness. Both filters probably let through too much dirt, if you live in a dusty area... I know my CTA pipe can get a film of dust inside after a while.
96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth " mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

It may be obvious to one person, but might not be obvious to 10 people. If you have a question, just ask or do a search.
