i got a cold air intake for my car, but it makes it idle too low and it dies. it is also a lot slower than before, i think it is making too lean of an air/fuel mixture. is it possible to use a cold air intake without modifying the computer? i have also tried resetting it by taking out fuses 4 and 11 for a couple minutes, but no such luck. any suggestions?

you could try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 20 minutes instead of yankin out the fuses. Also, if you have a 2000 i would suggest doing the IAT mod. If you don't know what it is type it in the search. DDavis helped me do it to my car.

after you pulled the fuses did you let the car run at idle for 10 minutes to relearn idle?
the IAT mod is where you put a resistor on it some people have had improvements doing this others have had problems after doing it. search the performance section with my member number I posted a like to a ZX2 site that had the how to for it.

I am just asking because I had nothing plugged into my intake.

Isn't that why the MAF's went to a six wire setup instead of four? Most of our MAFs had four wires, the IAT is two wires. Makes sense to me.

My experience is that the engine will idle weakly for the first few days after getting a performance intake, and what you need to do is NOT reset the computer, but give it time to learn the new characteristics. Once some time passes, the problem you describe will be a temporary phase you have to go through any time the computer gets reset.
