first off you really don't want an SVT... a MTX Zetec with a little money can be just as fun laugh I have driven the SVT before it isn't all that great... and with a few mods you'll be able to keep up with the ATX duratecs :p [/b]
Keep up, not beat. :p

What kind of mods would you recommend? I know I could get a Superchip. I work at JDM and we specialize in Superchips for Fords. But what else would you recommend? Also, is it possible to change the instrument cluster so that I do have a tach?

Why buy the SVT? I'm looking for a project car, and a I4 Zetec w/ MTX-75 might be my final choice. And there's no need to purchase an SVT when you can find a nice SE Sport V6 with an MTX like mine and turn it into and SVT (performance wise). Pay less for insurance this way as well. I think the Duratec is the way to go if you want real HP & TQ numbers N/A, but if you want to throw on a turbo, go with the Zetec. There are enough proven kits/projects with the turbo Zetec to justify keeping yours.

Ever hear of Esslinger??? and the ZX2 with a little Zetec and no bottle or turbo or SC running 9's???? I have but I don't know of a duratec doing that.

"yes I know it's a MTX Zetec but it beats having a ATX Duratec"

Champagne 96 GL MTX some mods
dynoed at 114.2whp and 124.4wtq (pre CTA intake)
16.858 @ 80.76mph (yes it's slow but still faster than D Davis)

intake, exaust, underdrive pulley, superchip or diablo chip, cam gears (need to be dyno tuned), cams. there would be a good start. but if you want to start small I would start with exaust and intake give the car better air flow and it will be alot better off the line.
