Riced out Civic Hatchback vs me on the mountain curves.
Setting; two lane mountain road (one lane each direction) Traffic; Me, Civic, & old guy in his 80's Cadillac suspension Upgrades; Front and Rear STB's, 19mm rear sway bar, new sticky tires.
So this riced out civic comes raing up and rides my butt for about a mile. We are stuck behind an old guy in 80's Cady doing like 25 through the mountain roads. First chance he gets the civic passes us both (in a no passing area). About 30 seconds after he passes the old guy turns into a driveway. So I smash the gas and start cruising. I catch up fairly quickly to the civic and decide to ride his but. We are on a straight away and he starts to pull away a little. He actually waves to me. But up ahead the road turns curvey(sp?) again. Well he takes the first turn about 10 seconds before I do. I'm caught up and riding his butt again by the second turn. I stay on his butt for the next mile. Then my chance appears. The greatest curve mother nature ever designed. A 120 or so degree turn but, you can see all the way down the hill for about a mile. I see no traffic so I punch it. I take the corner at about 70. The civic isn't so brave. I return the gesture of waving ad continue through the turn. I hit the straight away and gun it. I never see the civic again. Ha, Ha!

Congrats! People under estimate the ability of a Contour. I have hung through the corners with a '02 SC2 that supposedly is almost top in handling.

Man I love it when people ride my but, especially on this one road. It's a long flat road but it has quite a few businesses on it so I usually don't go much more than 5mph over the speed limit, these Texas good ole boys in their v-8 chevy trucks like to do 80 plus whenever there isn't a curve in sight, but the majority of the traffic exits onto this one beautiful, perfectly banked hair-pinned 180 deg on ramp, I love watching them fade into the distance as I brake late, turn hard and hit highway cruising speed before their even off the on-ramp!! I definately love the way my pre-98 handles edit: BTW I watched a 2002 nissan sentra SER Spec IV fade into the distance this evening.

I can't wait to finish up a few more mods and get to the track. I itchin to burn some rice. ERam has been ordered, Quaife is next, Optimized TB, and then NOS. Woohoo! Once I can go fast in a stright line, then I'll be getting the BAT European handling Kit. A nice 1" drop on a stock looking 97 GL Sport on stock rims. Nobody will see me coming!

Sleeper great job on kickin rice A$$! just be careful, because Street racing is not supposed to be discussed on the boards. Even though I think that it is great. BUt thats just me. I am sure this topic will be closed pretty soon. Anyway, I am getting a new job so hopefully mods will be coming quicker. First thing rims! Then new bumpers all the way around. Then intake and custom straight pipe w/ twin "rice" mufflers. Should sound pretty tight. Talk with ya later. Quafies fit our cars? I thought you had to have an SVT?

I don't normally ride people's butts. I have been rear-ended three times in my life, and people following too close is my biggest pet peeve.

OhSigmaChi: I know what you mean about the whole on/off- ramp deal. Me and my friend were cruising about to get on the bypass out by my house and this guy in a 96 F150 with the 5.8L V8 comes flyin by, well i floor it pass him before the ramp and im taking the turn about 90 , brake late and i didnt see that truck till i was getting off on an exit 4 exits down.
