I know this has probably been addressed like a zillion times, but I'm a newbie, so please bear with me....

I want to put in a chip, but am concerned about my 165K Zetec. Motor is tight, neither burns nor leaks, and still delivers 28mpg.

I know you shouldn't put a turbo on a hi miler, but what a bout a chip?

Thanx in advance!

first the fun thing is is their a chip avaliable for your computer code... I have AAB6 and both diablo and superchip don't make one for mine.

but I can't see what the problem would be of putting a chip on a car with high miles... turbo could still be done with an engine rebuild.

And where would I find the code?

Its not on the door stickers that I can see..

Ok i'm a newbie too, and i also want a chip i looked (its just a metal box right) I hope i looked at the right thing. Anyways where would the code be. Do you have to take it off too find the code. If so how do you do it. I was checking in my repair book and if i read it right you have to take off the power steering resovor. I might be totally wrong so anything helps. Sorry i'm a newbie too.

no... get in your car on the passenger side under the glove box pull back the carpet and you will find the computer on the floor.
here is what it looks like not my car thought...
you will have to unbolt it and lift up the computer to find a sticker with the code on it.
mine is AAB6 it will be something similar to this.

It is much easier cleaning the contacts on the computer where the chip plugs into with the computer out. To do this you would have to pull the power steering resevoir to get to the bolt that is on the wiring harness. Cleaning the contacts is critical when putting in a chip. wink

When I still had my Contour (RIP), it had the TUB2 code, and no one had a chip for it. Well, I could pay $300 for the chip, though, and they'd custom tune it and all (DIABLO).
