In addition to the K&N oil filter debate, has anyone here tried to use the Mobil 1 oil filter, M1-204? It cross references with the K&N HP-2004 and the Fram PH16. The Mobil 1 site doesn't list one for our cars (surprise, surprise!), but I'm going to start using Mobil 1 now and have heard that I should use a Mobil 1 filter as it's designed specifically for their synthetic oil. Any thoughts? confused

I've heard of fellow Contour owners using it and have heard good things. I have also heard it is expensive but worth it, but I have yet to find any around my area so I can't tell you first hand. In fact, I might go look for one tonight.

I already bought one a few days ago at my local Autozone. They are currently on sale at 2 for $20. Normally they are around $12 each. You can also get them online at Mobil1.com or other online auto parts retailers. This filter is real heavy duty and appears to be one of the best on the market (according to some online sites). I'll give it a try, what the hell! Thanks for the info.

2.0 L = M1-204
2.5 L = M1-210

Joshua, I just sent you a PM.

I've been using M1-209 for some time now with no noticeable adverse effects. It cross references to some Focus year...can't remember now. laugh

Right, pre-98's use a different oil filter than the post-98's. So for 95-97 Zetecs you can use the Mobil 1 oil filter M1-204. And according to SQPlus 98-00 Zetecs can use M1-209. I know that the M1-204 filter cross references with the Fram PH16 and the K&N 2004 (still under debate). I'm going to give it a try and we'll see what happens. I just received my Mobil 1 emblem today to put under the hood and I called Mobil 1 and they're sending me a packet with some of those oil change static cling stickers. Sweet! laugh
