i installed the cta intake today on my 2000 mystique, i am very impressed. sounds very thoraty in hard acceleration, a very good investment indeed. although i was a bit upset when i discovred CTA did nt send me the small hose clamp for the small cone, the clamps do not close that far.. has this happened to anyone else before????

As I mentioned in my email, the filter fits snugly, in fact a little on the tight side, and does not require a clamp. Sorry if you are dissapointed.

Don't worry Chris! I had thought I had a few problems after the CTA intake until I realized that I: A) Didn't tighten the clamps down enough on the throttle body  B) Should probably tighten the air filter/MAF bracket All in all, the CTA intake is very easy to install, as long as you have a deep well 10mm socket (for one of the air resonator's bolts) and a sunny day. Chris gave me everything I needed to install it and the instructions off of his web site are to the T. Also, he was really helpful over the phone and via email, so I didn't mind at all the wait (when he was out of the silicone couplings there was some minor delay). Kudos to Chris for providing us CEG'ers with a great intake for a reasonable price!!! I love the throaty sound of the CTA!

yeah i'll just add the same comments/compliments about the CTA intake. I can't express enough how i'm pleased with it - well worth the wait due to the silicone couplings being out of stock. thanks to c. wong! Just keep an eye on the couplings near the throttle body - you don't want that to come loose and then start sucking down unfiltered air.
...love the more aggressive intake roar and improved throttle response - i recommend getting an exhaust mod of some kind if you haven't already. it sounds simply delicious up in the power band and still innocently mellow while at idle (inspires driving with the windows down)
cheers

Chris Wong,
Any plans for a remote filter extension for the COntour CTA intake like the one for the ZX2?

It's a bit more difficult as it would basically have to end up like the former SCA intake CAI's for the duratecs. However, we had a very clever ZX2 owner that took our kit, switched some of the parts around and made our ZX2 kit into a true CAI. If I can find his pics, I'll post the link. I suppose that a similar install could be done on a Contour.

Hey Chris, Any idea where I can get those silicone couplings in yellow. I think I've gotten tired of dressing up the outside of my car and really wanted to start dressing the motor, I think yellow would give me the most horsepower Oh Yeah, I also love my intake, ewally a noticable difference in power, it may not be the fastest car out there, but it sure sounds like it

We stopped carrying yellow due to the lack of demand. We have had a couple of enquiries from different groups for yellow. What were going to to do was to purchase a small number of yellow couplings to complete the small number of orders requesting yellow couplings. This won't happen until our next stock order for couplings. Probably not for a few weeks.
