You guys have got me convinced that my '96 atx zetec contour is one bad a** car. So, consequently, i've been talking a lot of smack about how my (unfortunatley un-modded) zetec could out run a stock vetec. (whether it can or not, i don't know, i just like to talk). So i've got this kid driving a '91ish honda crx hatchback. I'm pretty sure it's just riced out (w/ the shiney rims and the farting muffler). My friends say he's fast but i think it's just because they carry around the sterotype that all honda's are fast kick a** cars. The only thing that scares me is that he's driving an mtx. should i give it a go?

I guess it depends on the Vtec. If it SOHC maybe, but it would be close. A DOHC, you would lose. Also there is a definite weight advantage in his favor. Despite this, go ahead. It is always good to know.

Just went out to get some food, and a little Civic pulled up next to me, so I figured i'd get you an answer by trying this out myself.
Damn, am I embarrassed. After the tail lights passed me, I realized the SI on the back. So to partially answer your question, you have NO chance against a Civic SI. The rest of the models, give me some time to hunt some down and i'll let you know.

You guys have got me convinced that my '96 atx zetec contour is one bad a** car. Mistake #1 So, consequently, i've been talking a lot of smack about how my (unfortunatley un-modded) zetec could out run a stock vetec. Mistake #2 Do not make the next mistake and race anybody in a Zetec ATX. You will embarass the rest of your Contour breathern. Suggest you enjoy the other nice features of your car like the sweet handling while refraining from further "smack talking".

A atx zetec is slow, but it can definetly run with older hondas (non SI of course). Ya and please don't talk smack, this car is really nothing. I enjoy the big trunk and thats about it.

Oh yeah, well you all just wait till D DAVIS is done with his CAI, then we'll see the power from our little Zetec go. Yeah, you'll see, well, at least we'll be able to take an unsuspecting Civic owner or two .
