The best way to say this is with enough money, anything is possible. If your wanting and willing to drop some cha-ching on motor work and parts, you should be able to get the highest HP rating you want to achieve. With the right internal workings and bolt on stuff, you can have a smokin Ztech. Personally, I'd drop the 4 and do the 3.0L install, and work with that. P.S. enough arguing, last time I checked, we were all here for the same reason, passion for our cars.

I agree with SQPlus, us in the zetec crew have looked far and wide for stuff. If you have some money and time there are many things available. No where near the simplicity of a honda, but we know that going in. I think just owning a zetec contour in different enough. Now with Terry (your the man, bro) we have not only a fighting chance but a sure victory.

>>BTW I USUALLY AM ON CAPS LOCK BECAUSE I USE IN MY CHAT ROOMS AND I DIDNT TURN IT OFF. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. SOME OF YOU GUY'S ATTITUDES NEED A SERIOUS TUNE-UP!<<

Some of OUR attitudes??? I think you should go back and reread a few of your posts before criticizing anyone else on here. And in the chat rooms I generally put people on permanent IGNORE who won't take the time to use their shift key, whether it's all caps or none at all.

Hmmm?!?!?! Very intriguing indeed! Generally if the engine is the same, the parts are the same! That's a first I've heard. You see, the 2.3L parts I've mentioned matched up 99% of the time. The only diff was slightly diff bolt-ons from the factory but usually all aftermarket stuff works! Has anyone tried to find out why the stuff won't work? Or why the escort stuff works better? My guess is that there must be slight diffs in the design or placement of certain bolt-ons on specific vehicles in the factory. Has anyone tried correcting this?(You know, a lil welding here and there?) Or has anyone tried to exchange the outer-skin of their Contour's engine with that of the Focus so that the bolt-on's mentioned will work?(Outer-skin=intake manifold, heads, intake, exhaust manifolds, etc,)Maybe if we tried to keep the block and change a few of these first THEN bolt on the Focus stuff maybe it would work.
I don't know you guys are the experts, I'm just trying to learn. Someone please let me know.

I can't remember specifics off the top of my head but it seems Ford just changed little things that make it enough for parts not to match up. Something I hadn't mentioned before is a lot of the aftermarket companies don't have good return policies(for good reason)therefore its a little un-nerving spending $300(hypothetical) on a header that you can't return and then find out once you get the manifold off there are two studs in the wrong spot. Then you have to try and sell it to an individual and potentially lose money on a brand new uninstalled part. Gets expensive and annoying very quickly. This is just an example but you get the idea. One thing I know for sure is different is the engine bay/hood size/arrangement make fitting intakes a problem. Just a few things I can think of. IIRC one guy bought a Focus JBA Header and all it required was a new CAT flange. Its little things like that which aren't always easily fixed by welding a new flange on(as with the latter example). I think maybe Ford did it on purpose. wink It's all a conspiracy.

LOL@conspiracy theory!! Well maybe Ford figured that they goofed on some of the Contour stuff so they changed some minor things. Maybe I should find a Contour with a blown engine for about $500 and buy a Focus engine? Hmmm, thinkin' real hard!!!

FWIW, Focus ATX is different from the Contiques ATX. About 2 years ago, lil sisters Focus ATX stopped pulling hills, started slipping, etc. Had to wait weeks for a new "Focus Specific" ATX.
