My Tour has been misfiring. It got so bad that my check engine light was flashing. I had changed the plugs and there were things that i did notice when I took out the plugs. There was oil on the grooves and when I checked inside, you could tell that there was oil leaking from the top. i checked all around the seal and on the outside of the engine and there was no oil leakeage so it is just leaking to the inside of the plug chamber. could that be making the car misfire or should I check for any loose sensor or pressure hose. Not that i won't change the valve cover gasket, but I need to know what is going on. also the reason that I wanted to check the sensors and hoses is because i had my timing belt changed so I want to know key places that I should check for anything loose. I also did change the plugs and wires just to make sure. So what else could it be? HELP ASAP!!!

Was the valve cover removed when the timing belt was changed? Was a new gasket installed then?

My car was runnin like crap after my timing belt change.. Took it back to the mechanic and he admitted to being lazy and not changing the valve cover gasket. He pulled a plug, and it was covered in oil. I changed the gasket myself, and installed new plugs while I was it it.. car ran perfect after that.
