i have decided to do a couple mods after reading about some stuff.
where's the cheapest place to buy a cta intake kit at, and what magnaflow muffler part number do i need from summit. if i'm correct, these two things can be had for around $200. not bad for having a probably cooler sounding car and maybe a little more performance. will gas mileage suffer at all? will the muffler and removing the resonator be enough counter to the new intake and more air?
the timing belt can wait a little bit longer. shocked )
thx

It will sound better and, yes, you will get better gas milage, as long as you drive it the same as you do now. You'll gain some hp so you might be a little more inclined to push you foot a little harder. I paid around $150 for my CTA intake.

You can also go to the Mods section on the main page and see all the other, less expensive options.
I haven't gotten to the exhaust yet, so I'm no help there.

The cheapest place to get the CTA is also the most expensive place: from CTA motorsports .

I don't know which exhaust parts are good, I haven't done my exhaust yet.

I found that the CTA makes my mileage worse because it just makes my foot itch to be pushed down more. When I took it out, I would push the gas, be disappointed, and give up on trying to go fast... mileage improved.

I suspect that intake, exhaust, and chip pretty much covers the main affordable and effective mods. But seriously, the timing belt ought to come first. While you're at it do the water pump and change those little idler pulleys.

mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid
planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip
involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure
