Did a search.
Anyone know the volume of the combustion chamber (clearance volume in Britspeak) for the US spec Zetec as used in the 95/6 Contour?
Thanx.

just out of pure curiosity is there any reason you would want such an obscure little piece of knowledge?

JE/SRP (quite posibly the most well respected name in aftermarket pistons) also make forged pistons for the Zetec. I don't have the part # on me, I don't think they are that expensive either. Crower makes billet rods and crank for the Zetec also.

Not as obscure as one might think wink
It is a bit of info I require so I can build a zetec with a higher static compression ratio, among other modifications. Btw, I have been advised as to what the figure is. The zetec, in it's various forms is becoming a spec motorsport engine, eg,FF2000 Zetec championship.
thanks for the interest.

would you mind sharing the wealthof knowledge? as to the volume I assume the figure you have is for the US head.

Not a wealth of knowledge, I'm new to the motor. I am using a 96 contour Zetec in a vehicle that has a total weight of <1300Lb. I would like some more power as I am classed in a group of vehicles that have over 250 hp at my local road race track.
The coefficient of drag of the car is in the 0.70 range frown , so my top end is nothing to write home about even though my 0-60 is in the low 5's.
I was advised by an extremely reliable source on this board that the c/chamber vol is 47.7 cc. so I'm on my way to calculating how much shaving is required for various compression ratios.

"yes I know it's a MTX Zetec but it beats having a ATX Duratec"

Champagne 96 GL MTX some mods
dynoed at 114.2whp and 124.4wtq (pre CTA intake)
16.858 @ 80.76mph (yes it's slow but still faster than D Davis)
