Where can I find the computer code for a 96 Contour? It is an ATX. I can see the computer is in the passenger footwell, but I don't see any labels on the device.

My car has a sticker mounted on the driver's side door "frame" towards the front of the car. I see a similar sticker on the Contour, but towards the rear of the car with the word Calibration on it.

I plan on tuning my car tomorrow and wanted to take the chip I had for my car to have it reprogrammed for my mother's Contour.

Thanx.

You can find it in one of two places that I'm aware of.

Usually there is a small sticker(1"x2")on the passenger door frame right behind the fender. That one gets brittle and cracked easy so they don't normally last very long.

The best way is to look on the computer itself. To do that you'll have to pull it out of the mount though. One 10mm nut on the bottom and one 10mm nut from the engine compartment holding the harness to the comp.

The sticker you mentioned earlier is probably the code but since it is on the oppposite side of what I'm used to I can' say for sure. Either way the code you're looking for will be a four(4)digit code consisting of letters AND numbers.

eg...'HCA5' 'Y4M2' etc, etc...

Hope this helps

I don't see the sticker around any of the doors, so I will just chalk that up to age. Too late for the EEC check, but I will look into it in the future.

I just wanted to surreptitiously play with my mother's Contour. Heh heh heh...

Thanx.
