I'm gonna guess you're talking to me? Well, here's the breakdown...

I'm assuming you know my car was running too lean. After basically forcing a B&M CommandFlo Pressure Regulator to fit the stock regulator in the Zetec, we managed to get pressure from 29 psi to 60. Well, after much advice and a CEL, we found that was too high, so we backed it to 45 psi. Haven't dynoed w/ the new setting, but at 60 I was pushing what's in my sig. The intake was on hold until we got that out of the way.

Tomorrow I'm going back to the dyno (my wife is starting to get angry laugh ) to hopefully do a few passes w/ the current setup and w/ the intake. We have most of the bugs worked out and all we have to do now is get the length perfect. Which leads me to a few questions for you guys as possible consumers...

1) Is this is even something you're interested in? Keep in mind you have a fellow CEGer (actually 2 - Kaiser and myself) handing you the dyno info (I'm not getting anything from this but one of the intakes, so don't sweat that)

2) The current setup is running into the fenderwell and towards the ground (can't be too specific, yet). That means cutting of the fenderwell to allow room for it to pass. How many would be willing to do this?

3) If not willing to cut, would you be interested in a "short" version if we could prove dyno gains?

4) Would you prefer the kit be offered with a filter, without or both? Any particular filter you'd like to see?

5) Is color an issue? I don't know if colors will be optional, but if you'd like blue pipes, for instance, I can pass it along.

I'm just as anxious as you guys are regarding seeing a finished product. I want this under my hood. Also, I can't do anymore mods until we're through with R&D (can't risk botching the #s), which is driving me nuts. I want my damn exhaust hung!!!! cool

??? Maybe ???

If numbers are similar, sure. Otherwise I guess i'll be cutting away.

4) Would you prefer the kit be offered with a filter, without or both? Any particular filter you'd like to see?

Well, I want to see this made in ANY form. I think it should be a 'through the fender' design to make tuning the length easier. Making a short version basically turns it into a CTA intake(fundamentally speaking). If its not going through the fender its not a CAI anymore(just a thought). It should definately come with a filter as a lot of people don't have one already. Pipes would look best in polished silver(ala CTA) IMO. Colors(w/o adding much to the cost?)would help them sell easier I would think.

Unfortunately I don't know what the HMS Turbo kits are going to come with as far as intake plumbing is concerned so I can't commit to purchasing one of these. I'll probably end up having Chris make me a custom one to enhance the Turbo intake...assuming it comes with one.

Just my thoughts on the issue. laugh

YES!

Cutting's fine with me.

3) If not willing to cut, would you be interested in a "short" version if we could prove dyno gains?

As said before, probably a good idea to offer it.

4) Would you prefer the kit be offered with a filter, without or both? Any particular filter you'd like to see?

With. I vote for a conical type filter found on the common aftermarket intake.

5) Is color an issue? I don't know if colors will be optional, but if you'd like blue pipes, for instance, I can pass it along.

Shiny! laugh

Okay, this is just a guess, but I imagine if it's offered w/ a filter, it would definitely be conical. That's what it's designed for.

In regards to color, the initial finish would probably look like the BAT Air Inlet Pipe.

Again, this may be wrong, but I doubt it.

True enough, though of course you can make the CTA into much more of a true cold air intake with a heat shield .

As for shiny pipes, the air would stay colder if it was made of dull but thick plastic. I'm afraid my shiny pipes are going to end up uglified with insulation wrappings.

mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid
planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip
involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure
