I have a '97 Contour w/ a 2.0 zetec 4cyl atomatic. I have come across a '95 contour w/ a 5 speed manual transmission. Would it be possible to just swap the transmissions and if so what would I have to do? If not would it be possible to swap both the engines and transmissions and what would that take? Please help! :p

Well your biggest problem in the swap will be the computers. A 95 will have an ODB1 PCM and the 97 has a ODB2 PCM. Swapping the trannies is involved. I'm not sure if you have to weld in a new bracket for the Clutch pedel or not. Why don't you just swap cars?

I found the car at a junk yeard and there is too much damage to be feasable. Would it work if I were to take the trany out of the '95 and find another manual contour that's a '97 and take the computer out of it?

I asked this question not to long ago when I bought my automatic zx2. The blunt answer I got from my mechanic was "hahahahahahaha....... NO.......hahahahahah"

Yes it is possible. "BUT" you will pay someone alot of money to do so unless you do it your self. If you want better perfomance you'd get out cheaper by having Level Ten rebuild your current ATX into a street/strip perfomance tranny.

With money anything is possible. For most people however the cost is to high to make it a reality. The straight answer is yes it can be done, just not cheaply.

Supposing that nothing needs to be rebuilt and it would be a straight swap. I woul imagine 1500-2000 in labor alone. If any parts need to be fixed or replaced then I think it would be more.
(We are also assuming that the MTX-75 doesn't need anywork done like Clutch or sincros.)
