Why not just buy an SVT?

Look, there are many things you can do with body kits or SVT parts to make it look good and distinctive. However, copying the SVT styling is just 'Wanna-Be' activity. Its all good until someone rolls up and asks what the build # is on your svt. People asking about your SVT will always cast a shadow in your mind that you wont shake because you'll always know it isn't the real thing. Fakes are just that, fakes. Make it look good and distinctive and you'll get admiration from SE and SVT owners. Instead of the snearing you will get when they realize its a 'Wanna-Be' copy.

BTW, I like what you did to your SE. It is an example of what I am talking about.

Buying an SVT I'm more than positive would be quite a bit more expensive than just adding 2 bumpers and sideskirts... Also, insurance is more expensive I'd say its a matter if one is financially able to. I'd like to get one. But I have to settle for my 95 Se. I SOOO want to get Micahs front bumper, an svt rear bumper and the sideskirts!!

Drove by an 98+ SE today that had the full SVT body treatment: front and rear bumpers, side skirts. Still had the stock SE badging. I don't think he had converted to SVT exhaust. I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference except that he had the entire rear bumper painted silver, instead of having the black lower piece. Looked pretty nice!

Our insurance did not go up when i went from a 95 SE that got stolen to the 98 SVT I bought in 97. Ford bought my 98 (beautiful Red, I miss it) SVT back and I was forced to buy another ford product. So I went right back to another SVT because I loved it so much. Now I have Silver. Insurance never went up. Maybe your insurance company is too smart and you need to get a dumber agent like mine so that they don't know the difference. wink

I also think it would be very expensive to take svt parts and make an se look like an svt. Interior on the SVT is distinctly different. Outside is cheap enough, but the suspension, engine parts, seats, guages, you get the idea. Cheaper to buy someone's used SVT.

My insurance code is the same as a base contour too. I pay like $550 a year for full coverage. For Ref - My wife's 02 Cavalier Z24 is like $575 a year.

2000 SVT #674 - Check it out!
