What is the engine whine that developes after about 4000rpm. Is it the alternator or the timing belt or something else? confused

Don't know. I have it. chrisb has it. Sounds like a turbo under the hood laugh

I replaced the serpentine belt and it still does it. Sorry I couldn't help.

I think it's reaching the RPM's that make the most power. Zetec's are high reving engines. Mine has a noticable power increase after a certain RPM and that whine starts to develope.

They all wine, i think it has something to do with the timing belt and stuff. After i got mine replaced it got louder. I kind of like it though : ) Sounds kool.

As far as i know the wine comes from the variable timing. the zetec of the motor. ride in a honda it does the same thing at high rpms.. its a normal part of the zetec experiance
