I just tried the cooling system additive that is supposed to bring down engine temp and lube the coolling system and help prevent thermistat sticking. Well, so far with only 10kms with it in, I am impressed. Temp is 1.5 letters to the left of where it was in the word NORMAL. But we'll see. Hopefully it will continue to work after 10 000kms.

I tried Water Wetter and it works for about 2 weeks but then the benefits kinda disappear...

I tried it, too. I honestly didn't see a difference on the guage, but I'm hoping the conditioners it contains will have a good effect over time.

Well, it has already almost returned to normal! But assume rad fuid IS able to cool engine better (better flow). The water pump takes less beatings!, more power/better fuel economy! I hope this is true. I will post if I get better mileage or not. Probably wait until next tank! I raced a focus on HWY#17! Not the best for gas mileage! I really don't care as much about engine temp as I do about lubricating the water pump and thermistat and preventing thermistat from sticking!

Manuf. (Dura Lube)

For getting temps down- No

For stopping thermistat from intermittent sticking open- Great after 500+kms!

My thermistat which was stcicking every 50 -100kms does not stick anymore. (500kms)

Draw your own conclusions , but I had this problem for the last couple months and now it has dissappeared after 10-20kms of use and going strong!

Ok, I understand ur point.

But what are the symptoms of a sticking thermostat ?? How do i know if i have this problem ?? Actually, i my car has been running very hot, close to "A" on the gauge, that's why I am interested in the cooling system, but since u said it doesn't keep the engine cooler... frown

Sticking open sounds like it would keep the engine cooler, no ??? Or is it the opposite ??

Thanks

A sticking thermostat is more of a sign of a dity cooling system that needs a flush badly to remove debris which can clog the thermostat. I have used Water Wetter as well, no noticeable diff but a new water pump does seem to make the temp slighlty less then the OEM pump, maybe the metal impellar works better?????
