For anyone with a KKM, has anyone thought about continuing that steel tubing that is sent with the KKM on to the other side of the air sensor straight into the MAF? Not only would this look sweet, but it would clean up the engine bay and would probably do a LOT of good for the sound. What do you guys think? I've seen it done on supras, impalas, hondas - you name it - they've got that aftermarket tubing running all the way from the air cleaner right up to the throttle body. Can't we do this? Where would you get the tubing?

Tell me what you think.

Joe

Check out the weapon-r intake... Goes from the MAF to the TB, getting rid of the ugly resonator and the plenum.

the focus guys use an intake similar to that. i have thought of it, but i have put those plans away for now. if someone has a cheap (<$50) solution that functions well, let me know!

Why don't you guys try to hook up with a muffler shop that will cut and bend a stainless steel section for an intake? I can't imagine they would charge you more than 50 bucks?

That's a good idea, redhawk. I'm getting my Banzai glasspack installed on Thursday, so I'll ask them if they'll do it. But do you think they have pipe with a large enough diameter? That intake looks to be about 4 inches in diameter. Does that sound right?

Also, is this just a waste of time that I wanna do it? Or do you think there are performance gains to be made off of this mod? Doesn't air travel faster through rubber?

I had everything measured out at one point, because I was gunna try rigging something up from Home Depot. I can't remember the ID of the TB, but it was not 4 inches, maybe 2.75. Whatever size it is, the exhaust shop should have it. Just watch out for hood clearance...

you might also want to think of some way to insulate the pipe from the engine. it will get really hot in the summer and will probably accentuate the heat soak some people feel with just an open air filter.
