Oops - I meant resonatOR. Has anyone done this? What the heck is that ugly black plastic box for? Can it be safely removed without any bad side effects?

If the job of the resonator is to quiet the intake (and I have no idea how it does this - it doesn't look like it is very effective by the way that it is placed) then will my engine or intake be extremely loud after I take it off?

By the way, let me just make sure we're all talking about the same thing here - this is the black box that runs from the front of the bay to the rear and hooks up to the intake tube coming from the air cleaner assembly, be it a kkm or stock. It branches off to the left just before the intake tube enters into the throttle body. Are we all on the same page?
