specifically for Terry H, Rara or anyone else that can give some answers..... ive been tossin around the idea for my next car..... a 98 or newer 4 cyl. MTX contour.....reason being id like to have a mid 13 sec. street car.....and a contour to boot.....ive been doin some research and looking around on the web and have found numerous Zetec performace parts etc..... now im thinkin Gude head package....FZ racing or anyone elses turbo kit (stage 3 or 4, blow off and front mounted intercooler with full plumbing and t3/t4 hybrid) and the typical intake, exhaust, plugs, UDP's and cam gears etc.... couldnt we have a high 13 sec. Zetec? of course beef up the tranny with a centerforce or grizzly racing clutch, racing flywheel and beefed up rear axle..... and alot of other small engine internals that the head work dint take care of..... i know it would be runnin expensive tab but the question is that it is very possible? id like to do a weight reduction...carbon hood... racing seats..... etc and see what QTs would be? Zetec guys look around and save ur money....there are possibilitys..... ahh how great this car would be......

Yes you can do most of what you have listed.the zetec is a strong engine,most track/race versions use a throttle body per cylinder/twin injectors or even revert to Weber carbs.Pleanty of wild cams/high-low c.r pistons,h/duty bearings etc out there.most on uk sites.tubo is a positive(i'm bringing on into the states from 'Dare Cars' in the next few months,a low boost addon.Any major mods need the base engine ,crank /rods /bearings etc checked and rebuilt with powere in mind.The specs are endless on what you can get all depends how big is your pocketbook!

for comparison...what would an average, stcok zetec run in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile? are high 15s out of the question? i don't even know.

Or you could always buy an Integra....

yea highh 15s need to have some pretty heavy bolt ons to get a zetec in that range!!! say sumthin like a TURBO! cuz remember ur gonna need to be runnin the same or around HP as the V6 which has about 50 more horsies than you.....so u could do some hardcore bolt ons (i.e. head package, exhaust, intake etc.) or jus go straight with a turbo.....

nooo way.....trust me ya i mean the zetec is a little lighter but still some dude on here ran his zetec which had its fair share of little mods and it was a MTX and his best to date was like a 16.8 or sumthin!!!! gonna take ALOT to cut a full second or so off to get into the high ass 15s....... thats v6 range and SVT range man stock.....so where ya get these 50 horsies from?=)

Just rembember a hot 2.0 Ford Cosworth turbo in 'mild' tune pushes out 300+hp.This motor is not far away from a Cossie/BDA in design.Check some of the uk members/mags like Car & Car Conversions in UK,you will be suprised.

with a zetec of my own...if you get a zetec into the 14's...you are the man...i dont have the $$$ to do it...

but a 96 zetec mtx runs a 16.6 @85mph according to a car and driver i have from that year (1996)

and does 0-60 in 8.5 seconds

i didnt believe these times either, but hey whatever works...
