Derek,
I witnessed Gary's dyno run - didn't go as planned. Here's a copy of his post over at shoforum.

"G*#%& M&T*$RF%*$!!! SON OF A $*^%!

I didn't have a good time at the dyno. When I got there (with my newly filled bottle) I opened the bottle valve and noticed a little bit of frost on the line that connects to the bottle, near the nozzle. No big deal, or so I thought. I closed the bottle back up, put some quick-dry silicone on the line, wrapped it like hell with tape, and headed into the dyno. My first run sucked my ass. It was without the nitrous on, and I only hit 187HP 182TQ (down from 194/190 two weeks ago ) Well, for the second run I turned the nitrous on. The line was still frosting a little bit where I had made my earlier repairs, and I figured it was such a small leak that it wouldn't have any real affect on the nitrous pressure/power adding.

As soon as he started the second run, the bottle started hissing big time. Then... BOOM!!! The whole line somehow blew off of the bottle's nozzle, releasing about 10 pounds of nitrous into my trunk. The nozzle/line look like they may have been cross-threaded

It was quite a show for all that got to see it... nothing like 10 pounds of nitrous suddenly and violently escaping from compression...

So.. the only run I got to make with nitrous (sort of) netted me 225HP/228TQ Not too bad, but obviously not what I was hoping for. So... I basically wasted a $50 dyno-run and a $30 bottle of nitrous just to be disappointed. The only good news of the day is that I'm running very rich with the LPM.

My third run I had him do another baseline without my LPM... same low numbers, less rich a/f mix... fourth run without Zex's fuel pressure lines hooked up, I still had the same numbers. So, I learned that the Zex doesn't affect the car at all when not in use.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get a new nozzle/line and maybe hit Bandimere on Wednesday still.... maybe."

I wouldn't say you wasted the time and money. Just a somewhat expensive lesson in what not to do next go 'round

I have a dream, and that is a 69 Boss 302 with Jules Asner in it.

Just another downturn in the roller coaster ride of my SHO love-hate relationship. smile

I got the bottle fixed a couple days after the dyno day... then headed out to Bandimere... had a good time, and love the car again.. (My best run was a 14.647 @ 97.22)

I haven't been able to get back to the dyno, but as soon as I do, I'll let you all know how it goes. I'm expecting at least 250 fwhp... According to a car math link I have ( http://www.prestage.com/carmath/ ) my altitude (Bandimere = 5830 above sea level) corrected ET ( http://www.unclesamsforms.com/rich/altitude.html ) would be a 13.576 @ 104.80, giving me about 268 fwhp. (Car weight = 3450 pounds with driver) Just theory, of course, but should be fairly accurate.

Yeah, too bad the dyno didn't go as planned. But, hey, lesson learned. At least it wasn't your motor that went BOOM. Why do you think the SHO was making less hp this time around?

I forgot that I put bigger tires on...

Between the bigger tires, month-old (compared to 2-day old) copper plugs, and the fact I needed an oil change, 8 HP wasn't too much to lose, afterall. The tires probably made 90% of the difference.
