I am trying to install a designtech MTX remote starter on my Contour and it is my first real "MOD" or at least upgrade I have tried (other than an SVT grill) and I have a question about wiring. I need to get a wire to the battery and one to the tach line. That is fine and dandy but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get through the firewall. Do I have to drill?!?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

Hey Deuterium, welcome to the CEG!

This is a post concerning running the wire through the firewall. Look down at the bottom, and Pollo Loco has some links to where the factory hole is. Like he points out, you can't see it from the inside because there is insulation over it. Just poke a screwdriver through it, and it comes out above the brake pedal.

As far as the tach wire is concerned, you can get to that from the inside. Look at my tachometer install how-to here. The wire you'll need is down there at the bottom.

Actually, come the think of it, you can probably use the power wire that I point out in there. But I don't know how the remote starter works, so better follow the directions . . . wink

Hope this helps! smile
