Sorry if this has been posted but I have a crappy dial up so I cant do a search.

What will fit good on a stock 98 SVT rim?

205/50-16
215/60-16
225/60-16
215/40-16
205/55-16

I just dont know. I read in another post something for acceleration and then something for handling... Any help?

205/55R16 was the stock size for 98 models. 99 jumped to 215/50R16. Some have put 215/40 for specific reasons and 225/50R16 for specific reasons. I ould avoid anything in the 60series size as it will not match the perfromance characteristics of the SVT in particular.

Stick with the OEM size for 98% of users.

I too would (do) stick to the stock size of 205/55. If your car is lowered you might get away with the 215/50 size but since they are a smig shorter, you'll have more gap between the top of the tire and the top of the fender well and that will be more pronounced on a stock ride height vehicle. Also on the 99's and later vehicles the fender liner was revised to take the slightly wider 215/50.

IIRC, Big Jim runs 225/50R16 KDWS on his E0 without any rubbing. Problem is, rubbing is hit or miss from car to car and tire to tire in the 225 width. 215 width is so odd that there are only a few hi po tires out there.

I stick with the 205/55 on mine (and I've still rubbed a hole in my driver's rear fender liner). I run 205/60R15 Blizzaks in the winter and I absolutely hate using a higher profile tire. Well, except when it snows. I don't see any reason for going to a higher profile than 55 on a 16" rim because all that's going to do is wreck the cornering ability of the car.
