OK, so I know that everyone is tired of the 225/50/16 questions on an SVT...as a matter of fact, I just asked one a couple of days ago! laugh

So, here's an idea...why not post a poll in which those that put 225/50/16s on their car are asked the following questions:

-Do the tires rub on your car?
-IF they rub, what model year car are they on ('98,'99, or '00)
-What type of tire are they? (i.e.: g-force T/A KDW, Ecsta Supra 712, etc.
-Did modifying the wheel liner correct the situation?

These are just some ideas, of course, but maybe they could help answer the questions that most have out there. It could also maybe be posted as a Sticky note at the top, so it would remain in place.

Just a thought so as to simplify things...thanks for lookin! laugh

Anyone can post a poll including you. The problem is not everyone looks at the Tire & Wheel forum unless they are looking for those items them selves or are really bored.

From what I have read over the past 1.5 years or so, 225/50R16 tires fit on both E0 & E1 rims. Some people rub, some don't as no two Contours appear to be built the same, and neither are the tires. Choosing 225/50R16 tire for the OEM rim is a chance at rubbing that everyone must understand who purchases replacement tires for their SVT's. If you don't want to take that chance, stick to the 215/50 OEM size and pay mucho bucko and accept the limited availibity. If you are willing to take the chance at rubbing, then enjoy the selection. Just don't complain if they rub. Figure out what exactly is rubbing and fix it if possible.

IMO only, I'd take the chance with any brand/model of tire in 225/50R16. The KDW is a very good tire, but all others in the 215/50R16 are crap for my style, and how the SVT should be driven. But for $140ea, there are better tires in 225/50R16 size I'd pick, or save soem money and get a still good tire for under $100.

BTW, this forum does not support sticky threads.

Some kind of registry might not be bad, like saying with what tires u have, and what you think about them, and the size etc.

I guess it wouldn't be possible to have that thread always listed tho, right APT?
