My 99 SE v-6 came with Firehawks stock. I wasn't super impressed by the treadlife on them, but my car was also out of alignment for awhile and that caused some premature wear. A couple of questions for people, 1. Most tire manufactures rate the amount of mileage on their tires, how much mileage do you guys really get out of your sets of tires 2. I don't race the car, but I do drive "aggressively" and this is a daily driver, any good recommendations? Basically, a lot of people on here recommend tirerack.com and they have a lot of info and a lot of cheap tires, but I also believe in getting what you pay for and if I pay $200 for a set of 4 tires that only last me 15-20k miles I should have just sucked it up and paid good money for good rubber.

My stock Firehawks lasted 40K, I replaced them with BFG Touring T/A HR4s for everything including an alignment and oil change for $400. I like them so far, but anything would have been better than near bald Firehawks . Good luck!

So far, I've had Goodyear Eagle GA's, Toyo Avids, and Dunlop SP Sport 5000 on the two Contour SVTs I've owned.
By far, the best of the three is the Dunlop SP Sport 5000 (asymetrical).
Great tire dry, wet, & snow...and a decent price.

Try the Goodyear Eagle HP on your SE. I got 'em on mine and they perform great. Not expensive either at about $75 each.

If your looking for 205-60-15 tires then the only choice, and a no brainer at the price of these tires is the Yoko AVS Intermediates. At Tirerack for....get this...$49!!!! Thats for a "ultra High performance" tire too. Can't go wrong with that! crap, that's cheaper then my stock GTA's which are damn right dangerous!!! I'm getting some of those tires, just have to save the money!!

I highly recommend the Intermediate as well, but they won't be fun in the snow. I've tried.

The stock tires were good for maybe 25K, which was unacceptable to me. I know this may sound crazy, but I had really good luck on my old SE-V6 with a set of Goodyear American Eagle tires from the local WalMart. They seem to be private-label Eagle GA tires that WalMart sells at their usual 25% discount. Oriinally posted by Cappuccino911: My 99 SE v-6 came with Firehawks stock. I appreciate the advice, for the record, my stock firehawks probably got about 20k miles on them which is unacceptable to me as well, I drive aggressive, but still, that is just too fast. I openly admit I wasn't the most diligent about rotating them which I will be this time around
