OK, I am going crazy trying to figure out the best setup and taking into consideration price. I am getting Rage 5.0 in 17 x 7 sizing with 40 mm offset. If I go with 215 45 17 I have a lot of choice, but some of the tires get pricy. I want to keep a tire that sticks quite well. I loved my KDWs but they are worn out after about 25 000 miles. Has anyone run Nitto NT 555 in 225 40 17? Will 225 40 17 rub? I have a 99 SVT and by some of the posts I searched it seems that E0s have a bigger rubbing issue. I have the Koni & Eibach set up and I usually run 75% stiff. With the 40 mm offset will the 225s rub? I need to make a decision by tomorrow any help from the experts here will help a bunch. I should be able to get the Nittos for a good price.

Thx

I would by no means consider myself an expert, but finding myself in the same position, I think I can still be of some help.

My 17x7s are 40mm offset, and with the Potenza S-03s in a 215/45/17, I have some slight rubbing on the right (passanger) side. I also have the Koni/Eibach setup, and prefer to keep it on full soft. I however have the rears about 1/3 to 1/2 to minimize the rubbing. W/out anybody in the rear seat, rubbing is very minimal and just on extreme bumps.

Some say the Potenzas version of the 215 is a bit wider then some of the other 215s, maybe it is just the shape of the tread/sidewall I don't know for sure. I love the wheels and tires, so losing them is not an issue, so after seeing Buckshot's 245s and his fender roll job, looks like I'll be rolling some time in the near future!

Also, if you have a 99, it is a E1. 98s are E0, 98.5 + (Wheel change) are E1s.

Hope that helps some. smile

Thx for the info. I did realize that my car was an E1. I noticed during my SEARCH that people had posted that E0 had the problem more often than E1 so I was hoping to confirm this.
Thx

I have the rs5's in a 40mm offset.I have pushed the car hard through some turns but not real hard yet. I'm still wanting to fix a slight rubbing on hard bumps. The feel pretty good so far.I would say there as good or better than the KDW's and much quieter.
