Have any of you run these on 17's? I ordered these from Discount tire, not because I like the place (lord knows they suck), but because the Yoko's they sold me wore after only 8k, and they should've at least hit 15k, so they're prorating them and my options were BFG-KDW in 215/45-17, or Parada's or Kumho Ecsta's in the same size. Oh yeah, and the Dunlop 9000's. So, I decided on the KDW because the UTOQ rating is 300, so I KNOW it should last me more than 6 months. . .anyways, any opinions? Did I make the wrong choice? I can always cancel the order, they haven't arrived yet. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks guys!

That's pretty much what our SVTs come stock with. A great tire but very loud. It at 32k and am just about to replace my tires. But they can go a couple more thousand if I really wanted to.

KDW's were standard on '99 SVT; I'm at 36k on the orig and they need to be replaced. Agree on best grip but noisy. Not interested in compromising handling too much and right now don't have an adequate replacement in mind so I'll keep the radio loud and probably stick with KDW's. By the way, how did you manage to only get 8k on a set of tires?

Noisy tires! Great dry grip. Especially great wet grip when more than half tread remains. When less than half tread remains, the noise is deafening.
Stiff ride, but the car is ever so communicative (steering, esp.)
I must be old for my age (26), cause I want something a little gentler next time. Along the lines of g-Force KDWS or Dunlop SP 9000s or Firehawk SZ50 in 225/50/16. KDW are too extreme/harsh for me.
I know the Firestone Firehawks will kick ass in the rain...I have the SH30s on my other car and they have phenomenal grip.

The SZ50 is not along the same lines at the KDWS's. SZ50 EP are summer tires and are grippier that KDW's. There are several different type of Firehawks SZ 50's being the performance tire of the bunch. Terry rated it the best tire in it's class. -Andy

Thanks guys for the warnings and advice. I'm going to see what I can do with the options I have with Discount Tire. I think I got 8k with the yoko's because I have the Eibach/Koni setup=severe camber in the front (about 2.5 degrees negative), I drive hard, and I didn't have the alignment done as often as I should've given the extremely poor road conditions in Houston and the extremem heat. I didn't realize those were the standard tires on 99SVT's, I guess us 98'ers kind of got screwed with the GSC's, GOD those were horrible! The weird thing is that they're selling them to me at $160/tire, when they advertise the tires in car mag's for $136/tire. I'm going to have to do some fanagling, I might even consider the Dunlop's or Firestone's y'all mentioned.

KDWS's are much, much quieter, grip the dry as well, grip the wet twice as well. I replaced the stock KDW's with 225/50 KDWS, you gotta really try to get these tires to break loose on a corner.
Diggs 99 SVT Green/Tan basically stock
