I am leaning towards a 205/55/16 vs 215/50/16 series tire just because there are so many more options. I live in Canada and do crazy highway driving (my 98 se has 160+k) so i need something that is decent in the snow. However "WET" perfromance is a must. And i would like a quiet tire as well. NE1 know about these Dunlops SP Sport FM901? Maybe i'll just go Kumho. They are only $69 at the rack as are the Kumho ECSTA Supra 712

Thanks for the help. I'd suggest Dunlop SP Sport 5000s. Excellent wet and snow traction. Not the quietest tire out there, but they have a nice agressive asymmetric design pattern. I have the 205/55 16"s myself.

I spent much time weighing out Dunlop 5000s vs KDWS, and chose the 205/55-16 KDWS in the end. $50 rebate on a purchase from Tire Rack meant 4 new KDWS's for less than $400 . The KDWS's are nice, although they don't handle quite as well as the KDW's (but what could I expect?). They are really quiet compared to the KDW. -Kurt

I would suggest trying the Nokian NRW. I bopught these tires this fall, and they are great in the snow. Not as good as a dedicated snow tire, but pretty close. NRW's are also tops in slush, I never had to slow way down like other cars did. In the rain they are the absolute best I ahve ever experianced. The NRW's are truely the best tire, by far, that I have ever had on a car. Check them out at Nokian.

Dude, I don't don't know if its too late for this advice, but the Yokahama avids are relly good. I used a 205/60/16 HR for the winter (wanted the extra inch of ground clearence for the snow) and those bad boys pulled me when the under-carriage was scraping in the snow! Extremely quiet ride!! Very absorbing. Since I do a lot of miles, I was going to go 205/55/16 VR for the summer. I like my radio, and spend 85% of the time driving to/from work and the grocery store!

Don't buy any of the tires pictured. They will be terrible in the snow. Look at some Goodyear Eagles, all season ones like the HP, RSA etc. Alternative: buy some snow tires along with "summer" tires.
