Guys/Gals,

I'm buying a set of SVT wheels for my 98.5 SE (currently have the steel rims with the 5-spoke covers that have holes through which the lugs can be seen. The lugs are shiny and "exposed" (in the words of the Ford parts guy). Can I use these same lugs for the SVT wheels or do I need to buy a special set from Ford?

Thanks!!
Steve

On my 98 SVT rims the wheel stud passes through the lug. You may want to get the lugs that go with this wheel. If you use the lugs you have now, they may stick out too far for the center cap to go on.

I bought a set of E1 wheels for my 99SE and used the SE lugnuts. These SE nuts are the gold-colored nuts with an open end, as opposed to the acorn-style nuts that are used for the E1s.

In the end I decided I didn't like the unfinished look of SE nuts (with their open ends) on an exposed wheel center, so I got some acorn-style (with closed ends) at a parts store. Now they look just like SVTs.

Interesting... I guess mine could be called "acorn" style--they're not open on the outside end, and they're a polished chrome finish. The wheels are E1's, so centercaps won't be an issue. I'm more concerned about the contact between the lug and the wheel--wanna make sure I don't put a lug nut on that isn't going to hold the wheel properly.

Thanks,
Steve

All the Contour lug nuts I've ever seen have the same type of seat so whatever style you have should fit fine. laugh

The E0 wheels take a standard lugnut. The later E1 wheels will take an acorn style nut.

Don't buy the cheap nuts and wheel locks at AutoZone or where ever they sell that Rally (or is it Rallye crap), they rust out when the cheap chrome coating chips off. Get a good set, and McGard locks.

Trust me on this one.
